WEB202 » 03) User Needs

We need to understand that we are not designing this website for ourselves – we are designing for other people. By creating a User Personas of  user that may come to our site we will begin to understand what our potential users want and need out of our website.

Personas should include but not limited to:

  1. Name: a unique name that evokes an emotional response from your user audience (e.g. “Hurt on the Job Joe”)
  2. Quote: a unique quote from this person that evokes an emotional response from your user audience
  3. Photo: a professionally and appropriate looking photo
  4. Demographics: gender, age, education level, marital status, income, etc.
  5. Profile: who are they and what attitudes and perceptions do they have about the world, technology, etc.),
  6. Goals: what are their motivations for visiting the website
  7. Usage: what are some tasks they might perform on the site
  8. Wants &  Needs: what kind of information or functionality they hope to find

Requirements:

  • Complete at least two Personas for users that visit, or that are likely to visit, your project site.
  • This shall be written as a comprehensive report in paragraph style that you, your team and Client can easily view and understand.
  • Post a link to this assignment in the comments section AND print it out to turn in as your User Needs assignment according to the class Schedule (Spring) or Schedule (Summer).

  1. Did not realize you have to submit separate links to individual assignments when they are due on same day.
